Role Specification – Business Analyst (TOM)

We are looking for a seasoned business problem solver to play a critical role in helping define and enable business change including operational effectiveness and efficiency in a fast-paced global financial services organisation.

This person is a self-starter with strong operational, creative and analytical skills who can take on and lead a variety of business analysis activities to support the Target Operating Model Lead in the analysis, design and implementation of TOM changes driven by a significant Transformation agenda.

The Business Analyst will investigate, analyse and propose appropriate business solutions to help achieve organisational objectives within timelines and budgets, whilst building robust relationship with cross functional stakeholders across business operations and IT functions. They will also help in the coordination and execution of business change activities.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in conducting detailed business analysis across complex cross-functional teams, documenting their findings in a detailed highly professional manner and producing recommendations based on their analysis and interpretation of available data and analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a strong and collaborative working relationship with cross functional Stakeholders
  • Organise and facilitate operational workshops
  • Conduct and document Root Cause analysis and identify remediation plans
  • Engage and work with multiple Business Areas to gather information and conduct analyse as required
  • Explore and propose innovative solutions and alternative approaches whilst assessing the impact on current processes
  • Assist in the identification, coordination and execution of an Outsourcing Strategy
  • Generate highly detailed Workflow diagrams to outline current processes, proposed new processes & solutions
  • Developing and implement high quality detailed Standard Operating Procedures
  • Assist stakeholders in prioritisation and defining business processes improvements
  • Participate in and support operational change workshops
  • Support business documentation development
  • Support business readiness and change management activities
  • Interrogate organisation Metrics to find opportunities and issues
  • Ensure that BA standards and methodologies adhere to the companies Group standards
  • Support ‘Go live’ activities to ensure business solutions are adopted and embedded
  • Produce regular & timely updates on progress, obstacles and issues.
  • Assist in the identification, resolution & escalation of risks, blockers, issues & dependencies

Skills Required

  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • Proven business analyst skills in a complex financial services firm (preference for life Insurance experience)
  • High level of awareness of Business Analysis, Change Management and Project Management methodologies
  • Highly proficient in Excel, data analysis and insight extraction.
  • Technically proficient with a solid understanding of MS products including workflow management tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to tailor communications appropriately for different audiences
  • Takes a structured approach to data & information gathering & business analysis
  • Can lead / participate effectively in workshops
  • Manage stakeholders at multiple levels – outcome focussed
  • An ability to influence others in the pursuit of operational excellence

Ideal Candidate:

  • Outcome focused problem solver
  • 5+ years’ experience as a business analyst preferably in the Insurance or Finance Industry
  • Experienced process reengineer
  • Outsourcing, Risk Management and Compliance experience or exposure
  • Relevant 3rd level qualifications
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working both alone and as part of a team
  • Works under pressure and to demanding timelines
  • Flexible team player ready to adapt and take on different duties as and when required
