Senior Database Administrator

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Senior Database Administrator with a strong passion for database administration and a desire to build a long-term career within a fast-growing, reputable organization. The successful candidate will have 7+ years of experience, with a strong focus on MongoDB and PostgreSQL.

Our client operates a sophisticated, high-performance database environment with a strong emphasis on security, stability, and reliability. This role presents both a technical challenge and a unique opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking infrastructure and data platform team.

This position reports to the Executive Director of the Database Administration function.

Role Objectives

Key responsibilities include:

• Database installation, configuration, and lifecycle management.
• Design, implementation, and maintenance of backup and restore procedures.
• Disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
• Database replication setup, monitoring, and ongoing management.
• Implementation, monitoring, and auditing of database security controls and access policies.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in a database administration role.
• Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL in enterprise environments.
• Advanced Bash scripting skills are essential.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS is highly advantageous.
• Exposure to Elasticsearch, Terraform, Ansible, and Oracle databases is beneficial.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated, disciplined approach to learning and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate leadership when required.
• High level of personal accountability, strong follow-through, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and objectives effectively.
