Mechanical Design Engineer

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of advanced automation and secondary packaging equipment. You'll play a key role in driving design innovation, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering high-quality systems from concept through FAT and SAT.

The Company

A specialist engineering business designing and manufacturing high-performance automation and packaging solutions for global clients. With a strong reputation for technical excellence, compliance, and innovation, the company serves industries including pharmaceutical, medical device, and FMCG. As a result of their ongoing success, they now seek to hire a senior mechanical design engineer to help further strengthen their design department.

The Role

• Lead the design of bespoke automation and packaging systems using SolidWorks (or similar CAD).
• Manage projects from concept through design, testing, FAT and SAT.
• Ensure designs comply with GMP, CE and machine safety standards.
• Work with cross-functional teams (automation, electrical, project management) to deliver complete solutions.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing expertise and best practice.

The Person

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor's/Master's).
• 8+ years' experience, with experience in automation or special-purpose machinery.
• Strong background in 3D CAD/PDM systems, pneumatics, servo systems, and high-speed mechanisms.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally (approx. 10%).

• €60000 - €70000

Location

Based in Wexford, with occasional travel to client sites.
