About the Position

My client is looking to hire an experienced Business Solutions Design Manager to lead a team of systems and business analysts responsible for delivering high-quality enterprise application design, configuration, and continuous improvement. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping and optimising solutions across a broad suite of integrated enterprise systems.

You will oversee the design and delivery of new software solutions, enhancements, integrations, and ongoing configuration of enterprise platforms. The role combines technical leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and hands-on solution design across the full application lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Service Delivery
• Lead and manage the Application Design & Development team, ensuring high-quality solution design and alignment with IT policies.
• Mentor and support analysts in day-to-day activities, prioritising workloads and championing best-practice standards.
• Guide end users on optimal system design and processes.
• Solution Design & Systems Management
• Oversee the full lifecycle of enterprise solutions; including analysis, design, configuration, development, documentation, testing, and deployment.
• Drive configuration and continuous improvement of the student administration system and other enterprise applications.
• Define standards for application configuration, integrations, and use of tools such as Power Apps.
• Ensure consistent technical design quality across the team.
• Lead test planning, regression testing, and system validation for major upgrades.
• Maintain awareness of software updates and evolving solution delivery methods.
• Introduce automation where beneficial (e.g., PowerApps, workflow tools).
• Operational & Project Management
• Maintain accurate documentation, configuration records, and portfolio tracking.
• Allocate team members to projects and ensure strong delivery governance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, business areas, project teams, and vendors to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
• Manage change requests, support incidents, and ongoing solution enhancements.
• Ensure all solutions align with strategic plans and operational cycles.

Experience/RequirementsQualifications

• Third-level degree in Information Technology or a related field.

Technical Knowledge

• Expert development skills in SQL Server, SSIS, T-SQL; strong Oracle PL/SQL skills.
• Deep understanding of APIs, integration design, and enterprise application lifecycle management.
• Strong configuration experience with SRLs and enterprise platforms.
• Excellent knowledge of requirements gathering, documentation, testing, and implementation.
• Strong data analysis and advanced Excel abilities.
• Solid understanding of cyber-security, risk management, and change management.
• Experience with Microsoft PowerApps.
• Technical background working closely with development and engineering teams.

Experience

• 5+ years managing enterprise solution design and development.
• 5+ years managing enterprise application portfolios with continuous improvement.
• 5+ years configuring major enterprise systems.
• Proven experience collaborating with stakeholders to evolve and enhance system portfolios.
• Experience using Azure DevOps or similar portfolio and collaboration tools.
