Bookkeeper/ Accounts Assistant

Your new company This company is an established quarry and construction‑materials supplier in East Cork. The on‑site office supports the production and delivery of aggregates and related materials, operating in a practical, fast‑paced environment with a small team managing operations, logistics and accounts.

Your new role An experienced bookkeeper to manage day‑to‑day accounts, organise existing financial records and assist with management reporting. The role is based in a construction‑focused setting and offers a permanent, stable position with varied responsibilities.

Key responsibilities (not limited to):

• General bookkeeping and maintaining accurate financial records
• Set up and manage debtor and creditor accounts
• Process daily customer invoices
• Manage credit control and ensure timely payment collection
• Liaise with customers to resolve invoice or payment queries
• Process cash receipts, customer payments and bank lodgements
• Input and maintain vendor invoices
• Prepare payment runs and process payments via online banking
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations
• Reconcile company credit card statements
• Prepare bi‑monthly VAT returns
• Process monthly journals
• Maintain accurate and organised filing systems
• Support auditors and prepare required documentation
• Assist with general accounts duties as required by management

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous bookkeeping or accounts experience
• Experience in construction or a similar industry is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Comfortable working independently in a small on‑site office
• Good communication skills for dealing with suppliers and customers
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
