Data Analyst – Role Description & Qualifications

Role Overview

The Data Analyst is responsible for transforming raw data into meaningful insights that support business decisions and operational efficiency. This role focuses on data collection, analysis, reporting, and visualization to identify trends, measure performance, and uncover opportunities for improvement. The Data Analyst works closely with stakeholders across departments to ensure data-driven strategies align with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, process, and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources.

• Validate, clean, and structure datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.

• Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate insights effectively.

• Analyze trends, patterns, and key performance indicators to support decision-making.

• Collaborate with business teams to understand analytical requirements and objectives.

• Support ad hoc analysis requests and present findings to stakeholders.

• Assist in defining data standards, metrics, and documentation practices.

• Identify data quality issues and recommend corrective actions.

• Contribute to automation and optimization of data analysis and reporting processes.

• Stay informed about analytical tools, techniques, and best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of data analysis techniques, statistical concepts, and data structures.

• Experience working with datasets, databases, and reporting tools.

• Proficiency in spreadsheets and data visualization platforms; familiarity with query languages or analytical scripting is a plus.

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

• Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.

• Experience gained through professional roles, academic projects, or internships is advantageous.
