Construction/Design Health & Safety Professional (PSDP/PSCS)
Full-Time | Permanent | Locations: Dublin or Limerick (Hybrid Options Available)
We are a busy, dynamic practice offering a unique opportunity for an experienced Construction/Design Health & Safety Professional to join our growing team. The Role
You will work as the Lead Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) within our established PSDP team. Two positions are available—one based in Limerick and one in Dublin. Hybrid working may be accommodated, provided you are based near the relevant area to facilitate monthly site visits across a diverse portfolio of live projects.
You will operate independently, reporting to the PSDP Associate Director, while following our established procedures and quality assurance systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients and design teams on their duties under the SHWW (Construction) Regulations.
- Identify and assess design-related hazards from technical, organisational, planning, and time-related perspectives.
- Prepare and maintain hazard identification registers.
- Collaborate with design teams to eliminate or reduce risks.
- Communicate residual risks and control measures to the PSCS for inclusion in the Construction Stage Safety and Health Plan.
- Coordinate and facilitate cooperation among designers.
- Prepare Preliminary Safety and Health Plans where required.
- Attend site meetings and liaise with Main Contractors and PSCS.
- Coordinate Temporary Works Designers alongside the PSCS.
- Compile and issue Safety Files upon project completion.
- Review and enhance internal PSDP procedures in line with legislation and ISO standards.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation in line with QA procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Education:
- 3rd Level Diploma in an IOSH-accredited programme (e.g., HDip in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work)
- OR 3rd Level Certificate in SHWW
- OR 3rd Level Diploma in a construction-related discipline
- Professional Membership:
- Chartered Member (or working towards) of IOSH, RIAI, or IEI
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in a construction, engineering, or architectural environment with the ability to interpret and challange architectural drawings and design team proposals in terms of health and safety.
- Minimum 3 years of on-site experience in roles such as:
- Project/Site Manager
- Site EHS Officer
- Works Package Manager
- Project Architect or Technologist
- Prior experience in a similar PSDP/PSCS role is essential.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong multitasking and project management abilities
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Commitment to quality assurance and compliance
