Assistant Night Manager

The Salthill Hotel have an exciting job opportunity for a hospitality focused individual. The role of the Assistant Night Manager is to oversee the Night Porter team and assist them in performing night-time duties in the absence of the Nights Manager. This key position involves setting up function rooms/meeting rooms/ ensuring the cleanliness of the hotel and displaying a hands-on approach to work to be completed at night-time. This position would suit an individual with excellent communication skills to ensure duties and responsibilities are organised and delegated accurately, this individual will have the ability to support and guide a team while displaying attention to detail and ensuring guests requests are dealt with efficiently. This is an exciting role which offers a variety of responsibilities and would suit a person who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be motivated and enthusiastic to ensure guests needs are met at all times, have a friendly and welcoming personality and be able to lead a team effectively to complete duties. Duties Include:

• To present yourself and ensure that all night porter team are in correct uniform.
• To comply and adhere to all hotel policies and procedures.
• To train new night porters and assist in updating of SOPs as required.
• Document any issues that arise during night shift and ensure communication of same today team.
• Responsible for ensuring correct inputting of all departmental and other procedural accounting tasks
• Ensure all function Wedding bills/Room charges dockets are entered with correct name, room number & then put into correct folder
• Responsible for running all stages of Night Audit and turning the system over. This includes the filing of the Night Audit printout and all reports.
• Liaise with front office, night team and other hotel departments to resolve an inter-departmental issue that need review.
• Oversee smooth operations of night shift on desk including customer service, call handling, late arrivals etc.
• Develop and encourage positive working relationships whilst delivering high standards of service.
• To ensure the RSA is adhered to e.g closing times and assist the bar where required.
• To ensure the night porter carries out his duties as per the job description, roster night porter accordingly and adhere to the working time directive with reference to rest periods
• To report any maintenance faults to the reception for recording.
• To ensure completion of legally required Fire Walks and Safety walks using walkie talkie system. Ensure logging of same highlighting any areas of concerns with day team.
• Ensure that all other night workers complete their tasks in a timely fashion to the correct standard and ensure that they are signed out at the end of their shifts
• To be vigilant at all times and report any suspicious security matters or intruders on the premises.
• To complete task as required which will include cleaning, hovering, moving tables &chairs. Ensure correct set up of meeting rooms & function rooms. This role will require hands on assistance for manual work.
• To answer the switchboard consistently in a professional manner to incoming calls & in-house guests by name
• Document any issues from previous night /day
• Passing on any re-occurring issues - guest complaints - staff queries
• Maintain high standards at the front desk
• Document any late arrivals or new reservations taken
• To work closely with reception and carry out any request that they may have in relation to customer needs.
• Any reasonable requests by management

Experience And Skills

• Must be able to multi-task and be willing to help where required in all areas of the hotel.
• Previous experience working with hotel front office systems is desirable.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
• Good presentation and attention to detail.
• Must be fluent in the English Language, both written and spoken
