What You’ll Do For Us
- Write, test, and maintain production code for consumer experiences, platform services, and integrations.
- Work within an agile product team, taking stories from refinement through development, code review, testing, and deployment.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate your work, while reviewing, understanding, and taking full accountability for the code you submit.
- Participate in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback, as one of the primary ways you will learn our standards and grow as an engineer.
- Learn and apply our engineering standards, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, security practices, secure coding, and observability.
- Contribute to documentation so that what you build can be understood, operated, and extended by others.
- Ask questions, raise problems early, and speak up when something does not make sense.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and senior engineers to understand the business outcome behind the work, not just the technical requirement.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education, bootcamp training, and demonstrated practical experience.
- 0 to 2 years of professional software engineering experience. Internships, co-op placements, open source contributions, and substantial personal projects all count.
- Working proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as JavaScript or TypeScript, Java, or Python, with a solid grasp of fundamentals including data structures, control flow, and object-oriented or functional design.
- Familiarity with version control, ideally Git, and an understanding of branching, pull requests, and code review as a normal part of development.
- Foundational understanding of web technologies and APIs, including HTTP, REST, and JSON.
- Exposure to at least one cloud platform, such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure, whether through coursework, certification, or hands-on projects.
- Comfort with AI-assisted development tools, paired with the judgment to verify what they produce. We are looking for engineers who use these tools well, not engineers who depend on them without understanding.
- Curiosity and a genuine interest in how things work, including a willingness to read code you did not write and figure out what it does.
- Clear communication, both written and verbal, and the ability to explain what you are working on and where you are stuck.
- Preferred but not required: exposure to relational or NoSQL databases, CI/CD pipelines, containers, automated testing frameworks, or front-end frameworks such as React.
