Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Health & Safey Manager and SHEQ Director, The Project Health & Safety Lead will play a key role within the Health & Safety Team, primarily providing professional support and guidance to ensure the safe planning and delivery of a major industrial demolition project located in Cork City, Republic of Ireland. The postholder will act as the principal onsite Health & Safety lead for the project working closely with project management, site teams, subcontractors and client representatives to uphold high standards of compliance, behavioural safety and operational excellence.
This role requires a proactive and hands‑on approach to health and safety within a fast‑paced, industrial demolition environment. The successful candidate will conduct regular site inspections, support the development and review of RAMS, lead incident investigations, deliver toolbox talks and briefings and promote a positive health & safety culture across all phases of the works,
the role will be full time site based. The ideal candidate will have experience demolition, be confident in engaging with site teams at all levels, with strong communication skills, sound technical knowledge and the ability to drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
Communication and Reporting:
Maintain effective communication with management and employees regarding all health and safety matters. Provide regular inspection reports on health and safety performance, highlighting trends, areas for improvement, and actions taken.
Incident Investigation:
Investigate incidents and near misses to identify root causes and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions. Prepare clear, detailed investigation reports outlining findings and proposed improvements based on sound learning outcomes.
Compliance Monitoring:
Monitor site compliance with relevant Republic of Ireland health and safety legislation, industry standards and also company policies.
Group Support:
Undertake tasks and projects as directed by the Health & Safety Manager to support continuous improvement across the business. This may include contributing to group-wide initiatives, assisting with audits, developing new systems or procedures and supporting strategic Health & Safety objectives.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant Nebosh Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience in demolition & construction and / or a related high-risk sector.
- Good knowledge of Republic of Ireland Health & Safety legislation and industry best practices.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Health & Safety related degree or H&S NVQ level 5 / 6 or Nebosh Diploma
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH).
