
Assistant Accountant (Credit Control)

About The Role We are seeking an experienced and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our team, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. This role will focus on managing credit control processes, maintaining healthy cash flow, and supporting general finance operations across the Xtremepush group. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and compliance. This is a hybrid role, requiring 2 days per week on-site at our Dublin office. Key ResponsibilitiesCredit Control & Cash Management:
- Manage credit control for the XP group and ensure timely collection of outstanding debts.
- Proactively contact customers to ensure timely payments.
- Resolve payment disputes and respond to customer queries efficiently.
- Collaborate with Account Managers and relevant stakeholders to resolve billing issues and collect outstanding amounts.
- Escalate problematic accounts to management or legal when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of all credit control activities.
- Produce aged debt reports and cash collection forecasts.
Finance & Accounting Support:
- Assist with accounts payable functions including processing invoices, payments, and expense claims.
- Support Month-End processes, including journal postings.
- Reconcile bank statements for the Brazilian entity.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Perform administrative tasks required by the finance department.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns for Ireland and the UK.
- Assist the Financial Controller and support compliance activities as required.
Your Experience And Qualifications
- One of the following qualification is required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or
- ATI qualified; or
- Part-qualified / studying towards a professional accounting qualification
- Essential: 4-5 years of experience in a similar finance or accounting role, experience with credit control is essential
- Desirable: Experience with accounting software (AccountsIQ) and experience working in SaaS companies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritise effectively
