Overview

Albany Beck are hiring a Senior Java Developer to join a high-performing engineering team building real-time, high-availability payment systems. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical depth, ownership, and the ability to deliver impact from day one.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver scalable, high-performance Java applications
• Own delivery across the full SDLC (design → build → test → release)
• Build and maintain low-latency, highly available systems
• Contribute to architecture, design decisions, and code reviews
• Collaborate across multiple engineering teams to deliver business outcomes
• Drive issues to resolution with a strong ownership mindset
• Ensure production stability, monitoring, and continuous optimisation

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong Java development experience in microservices / web services architecture

Hands-on experience with:

• Spring Boot
• SQL / relational databases
• REST APIs

Experience with:

• Docker and Kubernetes
• CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins)
• Version control (Git)
• Knowledge of monitoring and performance tools is a plus
• Payments experience is a plus
