Technical Sales ManagerDuration: PermanentLocation: Waterford, with Travel across IrelandRole Overview

This position is instrumental in driving commercial sales performance, deepening client engagement, and supporting the development of tailored solar PV solutions for commercial customers. The successful candidate will play a central role in refining our go-to-market strategy and ensuring exceptional service delivery across the entire project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Sales & Client Management

  • Lead the end-to-end commercial sales process—from initial inquiry through to contract award and handover.
  • Engage clients through pricing discussions, technical clarifications, and formal proposal submissions.
  • Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities across sectors (SMEs, corporates, public sector).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, architects, and engineers.

Solution Development

  • Conduct site assessments and technical consultations to determine project feasibility.
  • Interpret PV designs and grid connection requirements; perform basic irradiance, shading, and loss factor analyses.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop compliant, cost-effective, and technically sound system designs.
  • Support proposal development using design tools such as PVSol, PVSyst, or Helioscope.

Proposal, Tender & Contract Management

  • Prepare and present compelling proposals, ROI models, and financial justifications to both private and public clients.
  • Manage tender processes for large-scale projects, including bid preparation and submission.
  • Negotiate contracts and supply/service agreements in conjunction with legal, procurement, and operations teams.
  • Support clients in navigating financial incentives and grants (e.g., Accelerated Capital Allowance).

Sales Strategy & Performance Monitoring

  • Track sales performance and manage the pipeline using CRM systems.
  • Provide strategic insights to management on market trends, pricing, and customer feedback.
  • Contribute to the ongoing refinement of the sales process and commercial strategy.

Market Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
  • Work closely with internal teams (marketing, telesales, operations) to drive lead generation and customer success.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory developments.
  • Meet and exceed agreed sales targets on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Systems, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
  • Additional qualifications in sales, business development, or project management are advantageous.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a technical sales or business development role, ideally within solar PV, renewable energy, or engineering services.
  • Solid knowledge of PV system design and components (modules, inverters, mounting systems, grid requirements).
  • Proven experience managing the full commercial sales cycle.
  • Familiarity with bidding for public/private tenders and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across Ireland.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across departments.
  • Must have the legal right to work in Ireland without sponsorship.
  • Flexibility to attend industry events outside standard business hours.
