Architectural Spaces is a Galway-based interior architecture and design studio delivering high-end residential & commercial projects across Ireland. With over 25 years in business, we have built an extensive portfolio of completed projects and have established a strong reputation within the industry for creating thoughtful, design-led homes.
Our work ranges from bespoke renovations to large-scale luxury homes, with project values ranging from approximately €500,000 to €6.5 million. A key differentiating factor in our work is that we are involved with every project from the very beginning, ensuring we put our stamp on every element of the project.
Alongside Architectural Spaces, we also operate The Design Barn - a luxury fabrics, wallpapers and interior finishes studio that works closely with premium suppliers and leading interior brands to provide carefully curated finishes for residential projects.
Together, both brands offer a highly creative, fast-moving and collaborative environment where design, materials and client experience are at the centre of everything we do.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic designer to join our team and work directly alongside our Lead Interior Designer, Gráinne. This is not a position where someone will simply sit in the background observing. We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to get involved, contribute ideas, learn quickly and gain hands-on industry experience across a broad range of exciting projects. Since we are a small and close-knit team, you will gain real exposure to the day-to-day workings of an active interior design studio and will be trusted with meaningful responsibilities from early on. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants practical experience and to develop skills for the rest of their career.
The successful student will work across both Architectural Spaces and The Design Barn, gaining experience in:
• Interior architecture and spatial planning
• Working within all aspects of interior architectural design & detailing with onsite experience
• Luxury residential design projects
• Client presentations and moodboards
• Materials, fabrics and finishes
• Site visits and project coordination
• Creative problem-solving
• Studio operations and administration
• Marketing and social media activities
This position is ideal for someone who wants to learn quickly, build confidence in a professional environment, and develop a strong portfolio with real project experience. This role also offers genuine long-term career progression opportunities as the business continues to grow.
THE ROLE:
What your days will look like. The role will involve supporting Gráinne and the wider team across a variety of ongoing projects and studio activities, including:
• Assisting with interior design and spatial planning work
• Supporting the preparation of presentations, moodboards and design concepts
• Working with SketchUp and AutoCAD on live projects
• Assisting with sourcing materials, finishes, fabrics, wallpapers and furnishings
• Supporting project coordination and day-to-day studio tasks
• Attending site visits where appropriate
• Working directly alongside Grainne on live projects, gaining valuable mentorship and insight into both the creative and practical aspects of delivering projects from concept through to completion
• Helping with administrative duties when required
• Assisting with general studio operations and client-related tasks
• Supporting the marketing team on content, photography and creative activities, and working on our social media where needed.
As part of a small team, there will also be opportunities to become involved in different areas of the business depending on the student’s interests and strengths.
