Job Description

Posted on: June 2, 2025

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled Data Engineer to take ownership of our data infrastructure, helping us build scalable and reliable data products that power decision-making across the organization. This role is critical in shaping how we collect, process, and expose data to internal teams and external customers. You’ll have end-to-end responsibility for our data warehouse and pipelines, and will work closely with engineering, product, clinical, and commercial teams to deliver impactful insights and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve our data warehouse, ensuring it remains scalable, secure, and fit for purpose
  • Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Airflow
  • Develop and manage BigQuery schemas, tables, and views for optimized analytics and reporting
  • Write performant and maintainable SQL and Python code to support data transformations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data products
  • Implement data quality checks, lineage tracking, and observability across pipelines
  • Contribute to defining and evolving data modeling best practices (e.g., star/snowflake schemas)
  • Support internal self-serve analytics and external data integrations as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Master’s degree preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role
  • Strong hands-on experience with Apache Airflow, BigQuery, SQL, and Python
  • Solid understanding of modern data warehousing, data modeling, and pipeline orchestration
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably GCP) and version control (e.g., Git)
  • Experience working in healthcare environments and handling PHI in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Proven ability to work independently, own end-to-end systems, and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Attention to detail, with a mindset for automation, maintainability, and performance
  • Nice to have: Experience with dbt, Metabase, event-driven architectures, Kubernetes, Terraform, API design, or GraphQL
