PATIENT FLOW CO-ORDINATOR – CNM3Full time Permanent

Bon Secours Hospital Cork is part of the Bon Secours Health System which is the largest independent hospital group in Ireland with over 2,500 staff including 350 leading consultants. We treat more than 200,000 patients annually. We are now inviting applications for the above posts from suitably qualified and experienced candidates.

This is a senior operational nursing role forming a critical part of the hospital’s Nursing Leadership and Patient Services governance structure. The Patient Flow Co‑ordinator works closely with the Bed Manager, CNM3 team, ADON and wider multidisciplinary leadership to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality patient movement across all clinical areas. As a key member of the senior nursing operations team, the post‑holder will contribute to hospital‑wide decision‑making, escalation management, capacity planning and daily operational oversight.

Given the strategic importance of patient flow to hospital performance, this role is positioned as a development pathway within the Nursing Leadership succession plan. The successful candidate will gain exposure to ADON‑level responsibilities including operational management, risk oversight, service improvement, and cross‑departmental coordination, supporting future progression within the senior nursing management structure.

This role offers career progression offering a baseline/springboard to advance your career to Assistant Director of Nursing in a leading acute hospital where excellence, innovation and professional development are at the heard of everything we do.Candidate Requirements:

  • Registered in the General Division of the live register of nurses kept by the NMBI
  • Minimum 5 years post registration experience in an acute setting
  • A minimum of 2 years management experience at CNMII or higher is essential
  • Management Qualification and Risk Management experience is desirable
  • A proven track record in Nursing Management at a senior level
  • Preceptorship/teaching and assessing of students and junior staff is also essential
  • Experience in the implementation of service improvement and development
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to problem solve and use their initiative.
  • The ability to negotiate and resolve difficult clinical, operational and interpersonal situations.
  • Possess extensive knowledge/experience of the principles and practices of Nurse Management.
  • Demonstrate specific knowledge of Quality Framework Health Services in Ireland and to have experience in Accreditation processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Change management, resource management & project management skills
  • Understanding of performance and development review processes and assessment of individuals knowledge and skills
  • Excellent organisational, problem solving & decision-making skills
