My client is a major biopharmaceutical manufacturing and shared services organisation located in the south of Ireland. This role will be based in their central campus in Cork which houses engineering, quality, and IT functions, contributing to ongoing innovation and operational excellence.
About the Position
My client is looking to hire an Identity Governance Technical Lead to bring innovation, leadership, and high-quality execution to their SecOps function and lead Identity & Access Management (IAM) operations. In this role, you will shape how secure, timely, and compliant access is delivered across the enterprise, while driving the evolution of our global identity services.
You will lead a team of identity operations engineers, oversee the health and performance of core IAM platforms, and play a central role in strengthening operational resilience across a 24/7 environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam & Technical Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing identity operations team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, continuous learning, and operational discipline.
- Stay updated on emerging IAM technologies, threats, and regulatory changes.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Drive adoption of creative, scalable solutions to global identity challenges.
Operational Excellence
- Lead technical execution across incident, change, problem, and escalation management for 24/7 IAM services.
- Oversee health, performance, and maintenance of identity governance platforms.
- Respond rapidly to alerts and incidents, restoring services and mitigating impact.
- Ensure systems remain current with patches, updates, and security controls.
- Analyse performance metrics, implement optimisations, and plan for capacity growth.
- Maintain thorough documentation, reporting, and operational transparency.
- Partner with IT, development, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of identity services.
- Provide technical support for user requests and identity service issues.
- Support audit, compliance, and regulatory inquiries related to IAM.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Identify opportunities for automation, process enhancement, and best-practice adoption.
Experience/RequirementsRequired Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years’ experience supporting and securing enterprise Identity & Access Management services.
- Deep expertise in identity provisioning, governance, access management, and administration.
- 5+ years’ hands-on experience with Microsoft Identity Manager, Entra ID, and SailPoint IIQ.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
- Strong collaboration skills across distributed and virtual teams.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to tailor messages for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, and thought leadership.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure, cloud security principles, and common cloud services.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
