Role Description The Ventilation Hygiene Operative role is a full-time position based in Kilkenny. In this role, the operative will carry out planned ventilation hygiene work, including cleaning and inspecting kitchen extract and ventilation systems, hygiene work in air ventilation systems, and supporting the installation and maintenance of GREASE SHARK units and Defender fire suppression systems. Day-to-day tasks include traveling to client sites, assessing system cleanliness and compliance, performing manual cleaning and documenting work with reports and photographs. The operative will liaise with customers on-site, follow safety procedures, and work with the team to ensure systems meet regulatory standards and company quality guidelines. The role may involve working flexible hours, using specialist tools and cleaning equipment, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental practices.
Qualifications
- Practical skills in cleaning, maintenance, and basic mechanical or electrical handling of ventilation and extract systems.
- Ability to follow technical instructions, conduct visual inspections, and accurately record findings in written or digital reports.
- Strong awareness of health, safety, and fire risk principles, with a commitment to safe working practices in commercial kitchen environments.
- Customer service and communication skills to interact professionally with clients on-site and explain work carried out.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time effectively, and adapt to varying work locations and schedules.
- Full, clean driving license and willingness to travel to customer premises as required.
- Previous experience in ventilation hygiene, facilities maintenance, or a related trade is beneficial but not essential; training can be provided.
