A Health & Safety Specialist is required by CareerWise Recruitment to join our North Cork based food production client. This is a newly created stand-alone role and an exciting opportunity join a well-established business as they go through an expansion phase.
ROLE
- Manage Health & Safety at the Ireland plant, ensuring legal, corporate, and operational compliance in all H&S matters.
- To develop a strong preventive culture, acting as the local safety reference point for all areas of the plant and ensuring the effective implementation of the policies and standards defined by the Group.
- Manage the health & safety system in line with corporate standards and Irish legislation.
- Carry out risk assessments, work instructions, and preventive plans.
- Conduct periodic audits and inspections and report on KPIs.
- Lead the investigation of accidents and incidents.
- Define and follow up on corrective and preventive actions and risk reduction measures.
- Identify training needs in Health & Safety.
- Coordinate and deliver induction, refresher, and specific training programmes.
- Manage the coordination of business activities with contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards by third parties.
- Keep the emergency plan up to date.
- Participate in investment projects, facility modifications, and the acquisition of new equipment.
- Act as the liaison between the plant and the Group H&S Lead.
- Implement corporate H&S policies, standards, and projects.
- Degree in Engineering, Occupational Risk Prevention, or similar / Higher Technician qualification in Occupational Risk Prevention or international equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation.
- Ideally 2+ years’ experience in Health & Safety roles within industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Experience managing the H&S function at a single site.
- Experience in accident investigation, audits, and contractor management.
