A prominent chemical manufacturer based in Little Island, Cork is actively seeking a Maintenance Technician on a full-time, permanent basis. Based on-site, you will play a crucial role in supporting the safe and reliable operation of the production plant and equipment. This is a hands-on role and will ideally suit someone coming from an industrial/manufacturing background.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on production, filling, and packaging equipment to schedule and site standards.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns, diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults, and complete safe, efficient repairs.
- Carry out all maintenance in compliance with permit-to-work (PTW), lockout/tagout (LOTO), risk assessments, and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment logs, and parts usage within the maintenance management system.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and ongoing reliability of new and replacement equipment.
- Monitor site utilities and services, identifying and resolving faults or performance issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe workshop, manage spare parts inventory, and report low stock levels.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, food safety, GMP, COSHH, and audit requirements by maintaining accurate documentation.
Requirements:
- Relevant trade qualification (City & Guilds, QQI Level 6/FETAC, or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related discipline; apprenticeship-trained candidates welcome.
- Minimum 2 years' maintenance experience in a manufacturing or process environment; chemical, or food experience desirable.
- Strong mechanical maintenance skills with basic electrical fault-finding and knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with planned preventive maintenance (PPM), permit-to-work (PTW), and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and wiring diagrams.
- Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification; MEWP licence advantageous.
- Self-motivated, reliable, safety-focused, and methodical, with flexibility to support production needs.
