A prominent chemical manufacturer based in Little Island, Cork is actively seeking a Production Manager on a full-time, permanent basis. Based on-site, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all production operations, ensuring the safe and efficient manufacturing of chemical liquids and powders. The role carries direct line management responsibilities for production supervisors and operators, and will work closely with quality, EHS and R&D functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage production activities to achieve output, quality, and delivery targets while maximising resource utilisation.
- Lead, coach, and develop Production Supervisors and Operators through performance management, training, and team development.
- Ensure compliance with batch records, SOPs, GMP, and full production traceability, maintaining accurate, audit-ready documentation.
- Drive quality and food safety performance by investigating non-conformances, leading root cause analysis, and implementing CAPA.
- Champion health, safety, and environmental compliance through risk assessments, safety initiatives, COSHH, PPE, and permit-to-work procedures.
- Support HACCP and FSSC 22000 requirements, ensuring food safety compliance and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to coordinate PPM, minimise downtime, and maximise equipment availability.
- Monitor production KPIs, manage material availability, support ISO/FSSC audits, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- 3–5 years’ experience in production management or supervisory roles within chemical, food, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience leading production teams, including scheduling, performance management, and staff development.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, COSHH, and relevant health and safety legislation.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and/or FSSC 22000 standards; experience supporting certification audits desirable.
- Experience with production planning, batch records, and quality management systems (QMS) software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using RCA tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, or fishbone analysis.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams.
- Third-level qualification in Chemical Engineering, Process Technology, Food Science, or related discipline desirable, or equivalent experience.
