Role Description The Deputy General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Courtmacsherry Hotel & Coastal Cottages in Courtmacsherry. This role supports the General Manager in overseeing daily hotel and cottage operations, including front-of-house, food and beverage, housekeeping, and events. Responsibilities include supervising and motivating staff, managing schedules, ensuring high service standards, and addressing guest feedback and service recovery. The Deputy General Manager helps coordinate weddings and events, liaises with kitchen and bar teams to maintain quality and consistency, and monitors health, safety, and compliance across the property. The role also involves assisting with budgeting, cost control, reporting, and implementing initiatives to enhance guest experience, operational efficiency, and revenue.
Qualifications

  • Experience in hotel or hospitality management, with proven ability to oversee daily operations and support senior leadership.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills, including team supervision, coaching, performance management, and rota planning.
  • Demonstrated customer service and guest relations skills, with a focus on service excellence, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Background in food and beverage or restaurant/bar operations, including quality control, inventory awareness, and coordination with kitchen teams.
  • Solid organizational and administrative abilities, including reporting, basic budgeting, and attention to detail in processes and standards.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact professionally with guests and partners.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and compliance requirements in hospitality settings, with a commitment to safe and respectful working practices.
  • Previous experience in event management or coordination for weddings, functions, or group bookings is highly beneficial.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed in a busy hotel environment.
  • Relevant qualification in hospitality management, business, or a related field is an advantage but not mandatory when balanced by substantial experience.
