Finance ManagerOverview The Finance Manager is a senior member of the Finance Department and reports directly to the Financial Controller. This position is responsible for managing the finance reporting function, including financial planning, analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations. The successful candidate will ensure that financial processes and controls operate efficiently, accurately, and within established timelines, while maintaining compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Produce monthly management accounts and comprehensive reporting packs, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
- Conduct financial analysis, research, and forecasting activities to support senior management in strategic decision-making.
- Assist with project evaluations, business case assessments, plan validation, and ad hoc financial requests.
- Oversee financial accounting activities and maintain effective financial monitoring and reporting systems.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal policies, and relevant statutory regulations.
- Support month-end close procedures and prepare key performance reports and financial metrics.
- Prepare and submit indirect tax returns, including VAT, RTD, Intrastat, and RCT/CIS filings.
- Contribute to the preparation of weekly commercial profit and loss reports.
- Review and prepare project cost analyses and oversee weekly labour allocation reporting.
- Reconcile project performance reports with monthly financial results, identifying and addressing variances to improve consistency and accuracy.
- Support the management of inventory and fixed assets within the company's ERP system.
- Coordinate year-end audit activities, including the preparation of statutory financial statements and corporation tax calculations.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
- Respond to internal finance queries promptly, maintaining clear records and audit trails where escalation may be required.
- Work closely with the wider finance team to ensure robust internal controls are in place and operating effectively.
- Gain a thorough understanding of business and finance processes to identify opportunities for automation, process improvements, enhanced Excel modelling, AI integration, and system enhancements.
- Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Financial Controller or other authorised personnel.
Skills & Experience
- Qualified Accountant with a minimum of five years' post-qualification experience; previous supervisory or leadership experience would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working with ERP systems is desirable.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to interpret and analyse large volumes of complex financial data and translate findings into practical business insights.
- Results-oriented with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
