Job Description

Posted on: June 7, 2026

Datavant is the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare. Guided by our mission to make the world’s health data secure, accessible and actionable, we provide critical data solutions for organizations across the healthcare ecosystem - including providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies. From fulfilling a single patient’s request for their medical records to powering the AI revolution in healthcare, Datavanters are building the future of how data is connected and used to improve health. By joining Datavant today, you’re stepping onto a driven and highly collaborative team that is passionate about creating transformative change in healthcare. What We’re Looking For We’re looking for a Product Security Software Engineer who can own projects end-to-end and execute reliably with limited oversight. You will be a productive, independent contributor on our product security platform: translating requirements into well-designed implementations, keeping your work on track, and actively contributing to the health of the codebase and team. This role requires solid hands-on experience in Golang and modern JavaScript, an ability to break down and execute on moderately complex problems, and the initiative to raise issues and find solutions before they become blockers. You Will

  • Own projects end-to-end within our internal system portfolio application, covering requirements and design through implementation, testing, and production delivery.
  • Break down project work into sub-tasks, prioritize effectively, and execute on each with limited day-to-day direction from your manager.
  • Design and implement backend services in Golang and frontend components in JavaScript for a SPA architecture.
  • Build and maintain integrations with internal systems and third-party APIs, including data ingestion, normalization, and synchronization workflows.
  • Contribute to the reliability, performance, and maintainability of the system as adoption and use cases grow.
  • Write clean, well-tested code and participate actively in pull request reviews, providing and receiving direct technical feedback.
  • Work directly with product, security, and platform stakeholders to establish requirements, surface tradeoffs, and align on scope.
  • Mentor more junior engineers on the team and serve as a subject matter expert on areas of the codebase you’ve worked in.
  • Proactively identify and drive improvements: refactors, cleanups, reliability improvements, and CI/CD or observability enhancements.
  • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Claude Code or similar) to accelerate development while maintaining high standards for correctness, security, and maintainability.
  • Raise issues and risks to your manager when they arise. You are trusted to operate independently and flag problems early rather than waiting to be asked.

What You Need To Succeed

  • Demonstrated ability to own projects end-to-end, from design through production delivery, with a track record of shipping reliably and without close supervision.
  • Solid hands-on experience in Golang and modern JavaScript/TypeScript, with the ability to design clean service boundaries and write maintainable code across backend and frontend layers.
  • Comfort working in Jira to manage your own work: breaking down tasks, tracking progress, and keeping your backlog organized.
  • Experience building and maintaining API integrations across internal and external systems.
  • Working knowledge of AWS and production cloud environments, including familiarity with core services (e.g., Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM) and an understanding of how your code runs in production.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts (e.g., Terraform or similar) sufficient to read, understand, and make targeted changes to existing infrastructure definitions.
  • Strong communication skills, including keeping your manager and teammates informed, asking good questions, and surfacing blockers early.
  • A sense of ownership over the products you work on and a bias toward improving what you find, not just completing the ticket in front of you.

What Helps You Stand Out

  • Experience working on or contributing to CMDB-like systems, asset inventory platforms, or internal developer tooling.
  • Familiarity with security ecosystems, system inventory, or exposure/secrets-related data domains.
  • Experience working in environments with compliance or security requirements where correctness and auditability matter.
  • Demonstrated effective use of AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, or automate repetitive engineering tasks.
  • Experience on systems that serve as a source of truth for multiple teams, and an appreciation for the reliability and data quality requirements that creates.
  • A history of mentoring junior engineers or leading sub-teams within a larger project.
