About the Company
This role supports the mobilisation of a new solar generation site as part of a major renewable energy expansion programme. The project forms part of a broader strategy to significantly increase renewable generation capacity through the integration of solar, battery storage, and flexible generation assets into a growing operational portfolio.
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Site Mobilisation Support Engineer to support the successful transition of a major renewable energy asset into operational service. This role will play a key part in the mobilisation and handover of a new solar generation site, ensuring all operational, maintenance, safety, and engineering requirements are in place ahead of commercial operation. Working closely with project, engineering, maintenance, and operations teams, you will help ensure a safe and seamless transition from construction into day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of mobilisation plans and track progress against key milestones.
- Coordinate asset handover activities between project delivery and operations teams.
- Carry out pre-operational reviews of plant equipment, substations, and site infrastructure.
- Participate in site inspections and snagging activities to assess readiness for operational takeover.
- Review inspection and maintenance schedules and support the implementation of service contracts.
- Assist with the setup of spare parts, materials, tools, and maintenance requirements.
- Support the development of site-specific operational procedures, inductions, and emergency response plans.
- Ensure all safety, engineering, maintenance, and operational documentation is complete and available for handover.
- Act as Site Engineer during the initial operational phase prior to full transfer into Operations & Maintenance.
- Provide site support and response to operational issues, alarms, and incidents during mobilisation.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in line with safety regulations, operational procedures, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Technical or Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline), or equivalent experience in plant operations and maintenance environments.
Required Skills
- Minimum 8 years' experience in the operation and maintenance of generating plant, industrial facilities, utilities, or similar environments.
- Strong understanding of plant operations, maintenance planning, and asset management.
- Experience supporting commissioning, mobilisation, handover, or operational readiness activities.
- Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders including engineering, operations, contractors, and project teams.
- Strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working within renewable energy, solar, battery storage, power generation, or utilities sectors.
- Front-line maintenance experience.
- Experience operating under formal safety management systems.
- Knowledge of generating plant operations and maintenance activities.
- Experience with ESB Generation & Trading Safety Rules or equivalent safe systems of work.
Pay range and compensation package
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Start Date: July 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:45 (Out-of-hours support may be required)
