Boomi Integration Engineer
Are you an experienced Boomi Integration Engineer with deep expertise in Boomi and Kafka, looking to shape integration architecture and engineering standards across a large-scale enterprise environment?
We’re looking for a Boomi Integration Lead to take ownership of technical direction across multiple major projects, designing and delivering secure, scalable and resilient integration solutions. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role where you’ll combine complex technical delivery with architectural influence, cross-team leadership and the opportunity to raise engineering standards across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Boomi and Kafka engineering: Set technical direction across multiple projects, translating business requirements into robust integration architectures and validating delivered solutions.
- Design and build integrations: Develop complex API-based, application-to-application, file-based, B2B and event-driven integrations.
- Drive Kafka architecture: Lead production Kafka engineering, including Amazon MSK, topic and partition strategies, Kafka Connect, schema evolution, replication and recovery.
- Establish engineering standards: Create reusable components, API contracts, mappings, error-handling patterns and deployment standards adopted across teams.
- Champion automation and quality: Develop automated testing, performance validation, CI/CD processes, release controls and deployment tooling using scripting and AWS-based solutions.
- Provide technical leadership: Coordinate delivery across teams, review architecture and code, mentor engineers and manage priorities, dependencies and deadlines.
- Own production engineering quality: Define KPIs, SLAs/SLOs, observability and recovery practices, leading complex Tier-3 troubleshooting and root-cause improvements.
- Shape the future platform: Influence modernisation roadmaps, assess emerging technologies, evaluate costs and risks, and make recommendations to senior technical and business stakeholders.
Experience
- Deep, hands-on Boomi expertise, including architecture, process design, connectors, mappings, APIs, testing, deployment and runtime administration.
- Strong Kafka engineering experience, covering producers, consumers, partitioning, replication, delivery semantics, Kafka Connect, schema management and production troubleshooting.
- Experience with Amazon MSK is highly desirable. Comparable managed Kafka experience combined with strong AWS knowledge will also be considered.
- Practical AWS experience, including IAM, networking, encryption and security controls.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar.
- Experience building automated testing, performance validation and deployment pipelines.
- A solid understanding of production observability, monitoring, incident management, recovery planning and root-cause analysis.
- Proven technical leadership across multiple projects, including mentoring, design reviews, resource coordination and stakeholder management.
- Experience with capacity planning, cost optimisation, service KPIs and SLA/SLO management.
- Comfortable working with globally distributed teams and participating in a defined Tier-3 on-call rotation, including weekday and weekend coverage.
