Senior Staff Integration Engineer – Platform Lead (Boomi & Kafka)
About the Role
A world-renowned Semiconductor Giant is hiring a Staff IT Integration Engineer to serve as the Integration Platform Lead Developer in Cork.
In this senior, hands-on technical lead role, you will take ownership of the technical direction and delivery of enterprise integration modernization across Boomi and Kafka on AWS. You will bridge business requirements with secure, resilient integration architectures, building critical components while establishing reusable engineering standards across globally distributed teams (Ireland, US, India).
This is an engineering-led role with production accountability, focusing on enterprise architecture influence, cross-team delivery leadership, and high-scale modernization.

Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Architecture: Define technical direction for Boomi and Kafka across large-scale projects, aligning architecture and acceptance criteria with business needs.
- Hands-On Delivery: Design, review, test, and deploy complex API-based, app-to-app, file-based, B2B, and event-driven integrations; deliver reference implementations for high-demand patterns.
- Platform Standards & Automation: Establish reusable Boomi components, API contracts, error-handling patterns, runtime engineering standards, and AWS-based CI/CD automation pipelines.
- Kafka Engineering: Lead Kafka engineering on Amazon MSK (topic/partition strategy, producer/consumer tuning, delivery semantics, Kafka Connect, schema evolution, and cross-cluster replication).
- Modernization & Migrations: Drive the migration of legacy workloads (TIBCO BWCE/B2B/EMS, Oracle SOA, IBM Sterling MFT, Informatica Cloud) to modern Boomi APIs and Kafka event streaming.
- Observability & Reliability: Define service KPIs, SLAs/SLOs, actionable logs/metrics, runbooks, and participate in a defined Tier-3 on-call rotation.
Key Requirements
- Experience: 7+ years of IT experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or 9+ years without a degree).
- Boomi Mastery: Deep hands-on expertise spanning solution architecture, process design, connectors, data mapping, APIs, deployment, and performance optimization.
- Kafka & AWS Depth: Deep hands-on Kafka engineering (Amazon MSK preferred, or managed Apache Kafka / Confluent) including partitioning, consumer groups, delivery semantics, and cross-cluster replication alongside core AWS services (IAM, networking, security).
- Automation & Scripting: Strong capability in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for building repeatable delivery pipelines and automated API/integration tests.
- Integration Patterns: Solid understanding of enterprise integration patterns, B2B/EDI, REST APIs, and legacy migration strategies.
- Location & Work Authorization: Based in or willing to relocate to Cork, Ireland, with valid Irish work authorization (EU Passport, Stamp 4, etc.).
