We are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to support the safe delivery of construction projects across Ireland. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety compliance, particularly within construction environments, and a clear understanding of risk management and regulatory standards. This role will involve regular on-site safety inspections, training delivery, and close collaboration with project teams to promote a strong safety culture. Flexibility to work on-site or from the office depending on project needs is essential.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project manager and construction managers to be sure all potential risk management and safety issues are addressed.
- Create and execute workplace safety programs, emergency response plans, construction safety policies and job site hazard analyses.
- Implement construction health and safety training programmes, including new hire safety orientation.
- Perform construction site risk assessment, safety audits and safety meetings.
- Monitor adherence to OSHA (Occupation Safety and Health Administration) safety regulations and safety standards on sites.
- Investigate job site safety reports and lead incident injury evaluations.
- Ensure personal protective equipment is available and used correctly.
- Issue safety reprimands and corrective action recommendations when safety concerns are present.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and leadership across the area of health and safety creating a positive culture driving down accidents and raising the Greenvolt safety culture.
- Manage accident and incident data and investigate circumstances and causes of accidents, including taking necessary steps to prevent a recurrence working closely with the designated health and safety leads and other relevant staff across projects.
Qualifications
- Relevant 3rd Level EHS qualification essential.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role is essential.
- Experience working in the Construction Sector desired.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office required.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work well in a team environment.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite tools.
