You’ll work alongside compiler engineers, CPU architects, and systems specialists on backend compiler development, performance optimisation, and production-grade tooling used across compute-intensive applications.
Compiler Software Engineer Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain compiler functionality using modern C++
- Develop backend compiler features, including code generation and target-specific optimisations
- Improve generated code quality, runtime performance, and compilation efficiency
- Work closely with architecture and hardware engineering teams to support new processor capabilities
- Investigate compiler defects, performance regressions, and low-level software issues
- Understanding of compiler design, optimisation techniques, intermediate representations, or computer architecture
- Commercial or research experience in compiler engineering, systems software, or low-level programming
- Strong C/C++ development skills
- LLVM, GCC, MLIR, or other compiler frameworks
- Backend compiler development or code generation
- Embedded software or processor architecture
- Assembly language, debugging, or performance tuning
