Job Description
This is a full-time role for a DeltaV Area Lead – NPI Projects at Impact Engineering, supporting major pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical projects in County Dublin. While there is some flexibility associated with the role, onsite attendance of at least 3 days per week is required.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role within the Automation NPI Project Team, supporting the delivery of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects within a highly automated GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. The role requires strong technical expertise in Emerson DeltaV systems, project execution, stakeholder coordination, and automation lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as the DeltaV Area Lead within a multidisciplinary Automation NPI Project Team.
- Leading and coordinating DeltaV project activities across assigned process areas.
- Collaborating with Process SMEs, CQV Leads, Project Managers, and Automation Engineers to define and implement project requirements.
- Generating and reviewing Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Automation Change Packs (ACPs), and other project documentation.
- Participating in design reviews, code reviews, FAT/SAT activities, commissioning, and qualification support.
- Implementing and overseeing DeltaV code modifications in line with project and GMP requirements.
- Supporting schedule execution, issue resolution, and project delivery milestones.
- Providing technical leadership and mentorship to Automation Engineers within the project team.
- Ensuring compliance with GMP, Data Integrity, and CSV requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Supporting operational readiness and handover activities to site operations teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years’ experience working in Automation within Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical environments.
- 5+ years’ hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV systems in GMP-regulated facilities.
- Previous experience working as a DeltaV Lead, Area Lead, or Senior Automation Engineer on capital or NPI projects.
- Strong hands-on DeltaV coding experience and understanding of ISA88/S88 batch architecture.
- Experience with commissioning, qualification, and startup activities within process manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of Automation Compliance lifecycle, Change Management, and CSV requirements.
- Knowledge of GMP regulations, CFR Part 11, and EU Annex 11.
- Experience liaising with cross-functional stakeholders including Process, CQV, Operations, and Engineering teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple project priorities.
Desirable Experience
- Process Engineering experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Knowledge of ISA95 standards and MES integration concepts.
- Experience supporting large-scale capital projects or greenfield/brownfield expansions.
- Exposure to PLC/SCADA integration within DeltaV environments.
