Leixlip Amenities Centre General Manager Location: Leixlip Amenities Sports Campus, Collinstown, Leixlip, Co. Kildare Job Type: Full-time/On-site Salary: DOE This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the overall management, performance, and development of a busy multi-facility sports campus serving thousands of members and local residents. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the sports campus while driving excellence across membership services, fitness operations, staff development, and community engagement. A key part of the role includes overseeing the Community Employment Scheme at the sports centre, ensuring compliance, staff support, and programme development. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of Leixlip Amenities Sports Campus, ensuring a high-quality experience for all users.
- Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, operational policies, hygiene standards, and audit requirements.
- Provide strong, visible leadership and foster a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
- Manage member and guest enquiries, feedback, and complaints effectively and professionally.
- Oversee budgeting, purchasing, stock control, and financial procedures including cash handling and PCI compliance.
- Set, monitor, and deliver on membership, revenue, and service-quality targets.
- Work closely with the CEO and Board on marketing, promotions, and community outreach initiatives.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule staff to meet operational and seasonal needs.
- Oversee the Community Employment Scheme, ensuring compliance with DSP requirements, supporting CE staff, and coordinating with the CE Supervisor.
- Deliver a selection of fitness classes and maintain a strong presence on the gym floor.
- Manage specialist operational areas including:
- Health & Safety
- Maintenance and facilities management
- Administration and reporting
- Staff training and development
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in general management or senior leadership within a leisure, fitness, or community sports environment.
- Recognised fitness qualification (NCEF, ITEC, NCEHS, or equivalent).
- Experience delivering fitness classes and/or personal training.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and leisure membership systems (e.g., Legend / Ashbourne).
- Ability to build a positive, motivated, and high-performing team culture.
- Experience working with or overseeing Community Employment Schemes is an advantage.
