Lead HV Commissioning Engineer

A well-established electrical engineering contractor is seeking a Lead Field HV Commissioning Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of large-scale HV/MV projects across Ireland’s energy infrastructure.

This is a senior, hands-on position combining HV commissioning expertise, safety leadership, and team development, with significant autonomy on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a field-based HV commissioning and maintenance team
• Act as Senior Authorised Person (SAP), carrying out HV switching and isolations on live networks
• Lead on-site commissioning activities including HV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and control panels
• Mentor engineers through to Authorised Person (AP) status
• Coordinate training requirements (internal and external)
• Ensure HV safety rules and procedures meet industry and statutory standards
• Plan and manage work scopes, schedules, and milestones
• Attend and contribute to client, vendor, and internal project meetings
• Oversee commissioning documentation, testing protocols, and final sign-off
• Support and attend FAT/SAT activities as required

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in HV/MV commissioning
• Proven experience working on live HV networks
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Experience using Omicron and similar protection testing equipment
