Role Overview

An award-winning multi-disciplinary construction consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join its expanding Dublin 15 office.

The business provides project management, cost management, advisory, building surveying, sustainability, and development support services across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. Projects span a broad range of sectors including residential, education, healthcare, commercial, industrial, infrastructure, retail, and public sector developments.

This is a senior client-facing role suited to an experienced Cost Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or Associate-level professional looking to take ownership of major projects while helping grow and mentor a developing cost management team.

The successful candidate will work closely with clients, project managers, design teams, contractors, and senior leadership, providing strategic cost advice from feasibility through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Planning & Commercial Advisory

• Lead the preparation of detailed cost plans, budgets, and feasibility studies.
• Provide strategic commercial advice during project inception and design development.
• Review design proposals and advise on cost implications, risk, and value engineering opportunities.
• Undertake benchmarking exercises and market analysis.

Procurement & Tender Management

• Lead procurement strategies and tender processes.
• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities and tender documentation.
• Analyse tender returns and provide recommendations to clients.
• Advise on contract selection and procurement routes.

Post-Contract Cost Management

• Manage project costs throughout construction delivery.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and financial forecasts.
• Assess variations and change control procedures.
• Review contractor claims and commercial submissions.
• Negotiate and agree final accounts.

Client Management

• Act as the primary commercial contact for key clients.
• Attend and lead client, design team, and project meetings.
• Develop long-term relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business.
• Provide trusted commercial advice across multiple projects and sectors.

Team Leadership & Mentoring

• Mentor and support Intermediate and Junior Cost Managers.
• Review technical outputs and ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Support recruitment and development of the cost management team.
• Contribute to the continued growth of the Dublin 15 office.

Business & Project Leadership

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously across varying sectors.
• Support Directors in commercial reviews and project governance.
• Assist with business development and client engagement initiatives.
• Promote best practice cost management systems and procedures.

Candidate Requirements

Experience

• 8–15+ years' experience within:
• Cost Management
• PQS Consultancy
• Quantity Surveying
• Construction Consultancy

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related discipline.
• Chartered (SCSI / RICS) or working towards chartered status desirable.
