Our product portfolio covers a wide range of emerging technologies from photonic integrated circuits to advanced optical systems and embedded software solutions. Our optical communications systems are integrated and deployed in satellite communications systems. The work is exciting and challenging and is at the forefront of the technology domains. As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated - Legal Counsel - to join our group. What You'll Do

  • Serve as the internal "source of truth" for all legal matters, providing direct counsel to the leadership team on corporate governance, IP strategy, and international expansion.
  • Own the End-to-End Contract Lifecycle of complex commercial agreements, high-value NDAs and act as the Export Control & Regulatory Authority
  • Architect and manage the company’s internal compliance program for Irish, EU, and US export controls (including ITAR/EAR considerations), ensuring MBRYONICS remains compliant while developing dual-use technologies.
  • Act as the legal lead for commercial bids and government tenders, ensuring all legal risks, liability profiles, and compliance requirements are identified and mitigated during the proposal phase.
  • Strategically select and manage external legal partners across multiple jurisdictions (Ireland, US, EU).
  • Oversee the IP protection of our core photonics and optical technologies, working with technical leads to manage patent filings and trade secret protections.
  • Develop and monitor robust compliance frameworks for employment law, data protection (GDPR), and specific regulatory requirements.
  • Navigate the emerging legal landscape of space operations and international space treaties relevant to Free Space Optics (FSO) deployment.

Who You Are

  • Significant post-qualification experience (PQE), preferably with a background in a high-tech or aerospace environment.
  • Direct experience with UK/US/EU Export Control licensing for dual-use technologies.
  • MBRYONICS is a small, rapidly expanding organisation, you will need to be comfortable performing at a hands on level as well as contributing to our strategic vision with autonomy and proactive working mindset..
  • Ability to work closely with engineering and commercial teams to translate complex legal requirements into actionable business processes.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, scaling environment where you must prioritize competing high-impact tasks autonomously. This role has exceptional career development opportunities with it as the company grows.

Desirable

  • Proven experience navigating NASA/ECSS environments, export control regimes, and the specific legal nuances of the space industry.
  • Background in Intellectual Property law within deep-tech or hardware sectors.
  • Experience in government contracting and international space procurement protocols.
  • Knowledge of corporate secretarial duties and board-level governance.
