Project Planner / Resource Coordinator

Role Overview


We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established and growing engineering and contracting organisation for a Project Planner / Resource Coordinator to join their team.

This is a key position responsible for coordinating labour, resources and project schedules across multiple industrial, commercial and maintenance projects.


Working closely with Contracts Managers, Project Leads and site teams, you will help ensure projects are effectively planned, resources are coordinated efficiently, and upcoming requirements are identified and addressed in advance.

Our client is a well-established engineering and contracting business with a strong presence across the region. The company delivers a range of electrical, instrumentation, maintenance and project services across sectors including industrial, commercial and healthcare environments.

With continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, the organisation is investing in its planning and project coordination capabilities. This role will play an important part in improving how resources and projects are planned and delivered across the business.

Key Responsibilities


  • Plan and coordinate labour and resources across multiple projects.
  • Maintain and update master plans, project schedules and planning boards.
  • Prepare and maintain a 3-week labour and resource outlook, identifying upcoming requirements, potential clashes and resource gaps.
  • Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead programmes.
  • Work closely with Contracts Managers and site teams to understand project progress and upcoming requirements.
  • Track project status, key milestones and programme dates.
  • Identify potential resource clashes, delays and upcoming constraints.
  • Coordinate materials, subcontractors and other project requirements.
  • Liaise with site teams, suppliers and clients where required.
  • Ensure information is communicated effectively between office and site teams.
  • Support the successful delivery of projects safely, on schedule and within budget.
  • Assist with improving and standardising planning and scheduling processes.


Key Requirements


  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Comfortable using planning, scheduling and project management systems.
  • Practical understanding of how construction projects progress from mobilisation through to completion.
  • A construction or trade background would be highly desirable.
  • Previous experience within construction, engineering, contracting or project coordination would be advantageous.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to follow up on actions and keep projects moving.
  • Ability to work effectively with both office-based and site-based teams.
  • Full clean driving licence.


The Ideal Candidate


This opportunity would suit someone who understands the construction or engineering environment and enjoys planning, organising and coordinating people, resources and projects.

You do not necessarily need to have extensive experience as a construction planner. We are interested in candidates with strong organisational ability, a practical mindset and excellent communication skills who are capable of developing within the role.


Candidates with experience in construction coordination, site administration, resource planning, project coordination, trade supervision or engineering environments may also be well suited to the position.
