Manager, Research and Development – Embolisation Project
📍 Location: Limerick, Ireland or Copenhagen, Denmark (Hybrid – 2 days/week on-site)
✈️ Travel: Approx. 20–30% across Ireland, Denmark, and the US
Are you ready to lead a global R&D initiative in the medical device space? We’re hiring a Manager, Research and Development to spearhead a new embolisation project spanning teams and sites in Europe and the US.
This is a newly created leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape and drive a high-impact program within a collaborative and innovative environment.
🔍 About the Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a cross-functional team of Senior Engineers, Engineers, Technicians, and a Project Manager, working within a wider global R&D Vascular team of ~70 professionals. This role will lead the technical execution of a global project, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and clinical needs.
👥 Team Leadership
- Direct and indirect people management responsibilities
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing engineering talent
- Driving performance through regular appraisals and team engagement
- Fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Lead global R&D projects from concept to market launch
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources
- Collaborate with physicians to understand clinical needs
- Identify strategic partners and vendors
- Ensure compliance with quality systems and regulatory standards
- Drive IP portfolio development and innovation
- Communicate project progress and risks to stakeholders
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
- 10+ years in R&D within the medical device industry
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Proven experience with embolisation products
- Strong project management and technical writing skills
- Deep understanding of medical device materials and design
- Familiarity with ISO, EU, and FDA regulations
- Willingness to travel internationally
