About the role

Overview

The Group Application Owner (Plant 3D Piping & P&IDs) is the global leader for Autodesk Plant 3D and associated P&ID workflows across PM Group’s process and piping delivery lifecycle, shaping how intelligent plant design is delivered at scale. This strategic role embeds governance, drives innovation, standardisation, and continuous improvement, and ensures application environments, catalogues, specifications, symbols, data structures and workflows remain reliable, optimised, and fit for purpose. By enabling accurate, coordinated, and data-rich deliverables across regions and project types, the role advances PM Group’s BIM, digital engineering, and project delivery ambitions.

Who We Are

PM Group is an employee owned, international project delivery firm with a team of 3,000+ people. We are world leaders in the pharma, food, medtech and mission critical sectors. From our network of offices in Europe, Asia and the US, we work with the world's leading organisations. We are focused on growing a sustainable business centred on our people, our clients and trade partners.

Responsibilities

Global Design Applications Leadership & Governance

  • Act as PM Group Expert for Plant 3D and Plant P&ID products, driving innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery.
  • Own and maintain PM Group standard Plant 3D project setups for both the Piping Model and P&ID environments, including templates, piping specifications, catalogues, P&ID symbol libraries, class definitions, configuration files, and associated standards.
  • Govern and standardise model structures, tagging conventions, data schemas, and project setup workflows for both modelling and P&ID environments.
  • Maintain ownership of Plant 3D and P&ID application health, performance, configuration, standards, release readiness, issue trends, and optimisation priorities.
  • Ensure Plant 3D and P&ID workflows align with Group BIM Standards, QA protocols, ISO 19650 principles, and digital delivery requirements.
  • Support version control processes, release testing, deployment readiness, and controlled global upgrade cycles.
  • Ensure Plant 3D and associated plug-ins, add-ins, and integrations comply with PM Group IT and Security standards prior to approval and deployment.

Model & Data Coordination

  • Manage interoperability between Plant 3D, Navisworks, Revit, and other design tools to ensure seamless model federation and coordination.
  • Validate piping specifications, line lists, tagging structures, and asset data to support accurate isometrics, schedules, and downstream handover.
  • Support CDE integration and ensure consistent data exchange formats, including IFC, CSV, COBie, and model exports.
  • Collaborate with the Group BIM Standards Lead to align metadata, naming conventions, and shared parameter structures.

Application Support & Enablement

  • Provide technical expertise to process, mechanical, and piping design teams across global offices.
  • Work with Application Support Technicians to coordinate resolution of application performance issues, catalogue errors, project file issues, and user escalations, ensuring recurring issues are captured and addressed through standards, configuration, training, or improvement actions.
  • Conduct testing and validation of new software versions, plug-ins, add-ons, and integrations prior to global deployment.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow automation, including isometric generation, report automation, and automated tagging.
  • Act as the technical escalation point for complex Plant 3D and P&ID application and project-specific issues, investigating problems relating to application configuration, project setup, catalogues, specifications, P&ID libraries, data, performance, interoperability, and associated workflows.

Training, Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to training materials, onboarding packs, and user guides for Plant 3D modelling and P&ID creation.
  • Run training sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops with discipline leads and developing users.
  • Capture and analyse feedback from project teams to prioritise improvements, configuration updates, and future development.
  • Report adoption trends, recurring issues, risks, and strategic tool improvement opportunities to the Group BIM Programme Manager.
  • Act as product SME for assigned applications, maintaining awareness of vendor roadmaps, emerging features, automation opportunities, and future capability improvements.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years’ experience using Autodesk Plant 3D, ideally on large industrial or process-driven projects. Strong knowledge of piping design, process design, P&ID standards, and mechanical modelling principles.
  • Demonstrable experience in enabling and delivering innovation and familiarity with AI tools.
  • Proven experience managing catalogues, specifications, class definitions, and project configuration files. Proven experience in Plant 3D project setup, configuration, specification and catalogue management, and P&ID library development.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks, Revit, federated model processes, and coordination workflows. Understanding of ISO 19650, CDE workflows, and data management standards.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Success Measures

  • Measurable improvement in global adoption of approved Plant 3D and P&ID standards, templates, and workflows.
  • Reduction in recurring configuration, catalogue, specification, tagging, and deliverable quality issues.
  • Improved project start-up efficiency through controlled application setup, specifications, catalogues, and deployment readiness.
  • Improved application reliability, performance, and readiness through proactive monitoring of issue trends, configuration quality, and release impacts.
  • Improved quality and consistency of process and piping data exchange with BIM models and downstream systems.
  • Evidence of alignment with Group BIM Standards and digital QA audit requirements through reviews and governance checks.
