HR Generalist | Dublin 22 | 4.5 Days on site

My client is hiring an HR Generalist to join a small, established HR team supporting a workforce of approximately 500 employees in their Dublin South site. This is a broad generalist role with a strong employee relations weighting; the successful candidate will take on ownership of complex ER matters day-to-day while also holding accountability for defined areas of the wider HR function as part of a structured Centre of Excellence model. The position reports directly to the Head of HR and is a permanent, full-time hire.

What's on Offer

  • Salary: €50,000–€55,000
  • 4.5-day week; Monday to Thursday (8-4.30) & 1pm finish on Friday's
  • 22 days AL
  • Company pension
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Bike to work scheme
  • Additional leave
  • On-site parking
  • Company events and recognition programmes

About the Business

My client is an established Irish business operating within a multinational group, with a sizeable workforce across two Dublin sites and a hands-on, operationally driven culture. The HR function is a small, collaborative team with an ambitious project roadmap focused on improving employee experience, processes, and business connection.

The Role

This role sits at the heart of day-to-day HR delivery. You will be the go-to person for managers across the business on all things employee relations - handling investigations, coaching leaders through conduct and performance matters, and ensuring every process is legally sound and fairly applied. Alongside that ER work, you will hold defined ownership of two specific HR Centres of Excellence from the outset, with rotation across others over time. This structure gives the role genuine breadth and clear purpose beyond casework.

What You'll Be Doing_Employee Relations_

  • Take ownership of grievance and disciplinary investigations end-to-end, applying fair and natural justice principles and producing compliant documentation throughout
  • Act as a trusted advisor to line managers on conduct, performance, absence, and other ER matters; coaching rather than just directing
  • Attend regular manager meetings to stay close to business activity and address HR issues as they arise
  • Maintain consistency in how policy and precedent are applied across the organisation
  • Administer PIPs and support managers in managing underperformance within your assigned areas of the business

Centre of Excellence Ownership (two assigned COEs from day one) Each generalist in the team holds ownership of defined HR COEs, rotating every 18–24 months to build full-function exposure. The two COEs assigned to this role initially are:Learning & Development

  • Identify learning needs across the organisation in partnership with managers and the wider HR team
  • Design, coordinate, deliver, and track training across all formats; in-person, online, compliance-based, and soft skills
  • Manage the LMS, centralise training records, and ensure accurate reporting for group and compliance purposes
  • Deliver new starter inductions and reinductions
  • Support apprenticeship programmes and educational sponsorship processes

Performance & Development

  • Manage review cycles, probation processes, and team development plans within your areas
  • Support succession planning and regularly identify capability gaps in collaboration with production managers
  • Coordinate and track feedback and appraisal processes

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Co-own day-to-day HR operations across the employee lifecycle alongside the HR Administrator; onboarding, contracts, probation reviews, changes, and leavers
  • Continuously review and update HR policies, keeping pace with Irish employment legislation and codes of practice
  • Prepare and present HR metrics covering absence, turnover, ER trends, and training compliance, insight-led, not just data
  • Ensure all employment documentation is legally compliant and commercially appropriate
  • Maintain GDPR-compliant employee records and support HRIS data integrity and reporting

Projects

  • Take ownership of defined HR projects within the 24-month project plan, focused on improving employee experience, processes, and systems
  • Present findings, identify trends, and implement practical solutions with real business impact
  • Work closely with HR colleagues to ensure coordinated delivery across the team

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a dedicated HR generalist role, with a proven track record in complex ER
  • Confident, hands-on experience managing grievances, disciplinaries, performance management, and absence — independently, from start to finish
  • Strong working knowledge of Irish employment law, codes of practice, and HR best practice
  • Experience drafting and applying HR policies consistently across different situations
  • Proven ability to coach and influence managers at all levels
  • Experience delivering training or learning programmes
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-moving, operational environment
  • CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience demonstrating professional HR competence)
  • Based within commutable distance of Dublin 22 and comfortable working fully onsite — this is a hands-on role supporting a largely non-desk-based workforce and onsite presence is essential
  • Must be eligible to work in Ireland without sponsorship

Desirable

  • Experience in a local Irish business operating within a multinational group structure
  • Background in manufacturing, logistics, or another operationally led environment
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and reporting platforms; experience with attendance or docking systems a plus
  • Experience leading or contributing to employee engagement, culture, or CSR initiatives
