Data Engineering Team Lead (Databricks) - (Hybrid role in the city center + offering €125,000 to €135,000 + benefits)

Our client is building a new data engineering team and is looking for a Databricks Team Lead to guide delivery, support engineers, and work closely with stakeholders. This is an enablement and leadership role, not a pure hands-on coding position, though technical depth is essential.

You will lead the design and delivery of data solutions on Databricks, help teams work better together, and ensure high standards across data platforms. This role suits someone who enjoys mentoring, decision-making, and shaping how data engineering work gets done.

What you will do

Lead and support a team of data engineers across projects

Own design decisions and oversee delivery on Databricks platforms

Work closely with stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into clear solutions

Set best practices around performance, security, and scalability

Guide teams through planning, delivery, and continuous improvement

Review designs and approaches rather than coding day to day

Support cloud-based data platforms, mainly on AWS

Must have

• 8+ years of strong background in data engineering fundamentals
• 3+ years of strong hands-on experience with Databricks
• Experience leading or enabling data engineering teams
• Strong design and delivery experience on large data platforms
• Comfort working with stakeholders and senior teams
• Cloud experience, ideally AWS, Azure with a willingness to learn
• Good understanding of Spark, SQL, and data modellingNice to have

• Experience in financial services or regulated environments
• Exposure to AI or ML use cases
• Experience with streaming or real-time data
• Knowledge of data governance practices
