Based in the Waterford site and reporting to planning leadership in the USA, the Senior Buyer is a skilled, service-focused professional responsible for direct material procurement and inventory management across multiple U.S. manufacturing sites. Operating within a shared services model, the role ensures timely, cost-effective material availability and supports plant-specific procurement needs with responsiveness and precision. Responsibilities

  • Multi-Site MRP Procurement and Demand Management: Oversee MRP-based procurement for multiple manufacturing sites, ensuring accurate and timely orders aligned with production schedules. Monitor demand signals to avoid shortages and adjust procurement activity as needed.
  • Data Analytics in Procurement: Use historical trends and current forecasts to make informed, proactive adjustments to supply plans. Apply data insights to improve material availability and procurement strategies.
  • Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Expertise: Ensure accuracy and efficiency across the full P2P cycle, from requisition through payment. Troubleshoot issues quickly to minimize disruptions.
  • Manufacturing Procurement Specialization: Bring experience in sourcing and managing materials for production environments, with a focus on meeting quality, cost, and lead-time targets.
  • Demand and Supply Planning Knowledge: Use ERP systems to analyze component and sub-assembly needs, identifying gaps in availability, cost, lead time, and safety stock levels.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain optimal raw material inventory, supporting production while minimizing excess, slow-moving, and obsolete materials.
  • Inventory Program Implementation: Support programs like Consignment, JIT, and VMI by collaborating across sites to ensure consistency and efficiency in material flow.
  • Procurement Lifecycle Management: Manage procurement from sourcing to PO placement, ensuring alignment with internal planning and vendor capabilities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to ongoing process improvements in procurement, planning, and shared services operations, supporting scalability and service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. degree or equivalent; supply chain or operations degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5+ years in business, ideally supporting multi-site or shared service environments.
  • Service-Oriented: Committed to meeting the unique needs of manufacturing plants with urgency and care.
  • Analytical: Strong data and analytics skills to support planning and procurement decisions.
  • P2P Expertise: Deep understanding of procure-to-pay processes and procurement efficiency.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Experience sourcing materials for production with cost and quality focus.
  • Global Collaboration: Comfortable working across cultures, especially between U.S. and Ireland.
  • Adaptable: Embraces change, new technologies, and evolving customer expectations.
  • Problem Solver: Strong critical thinking and multitasking abilities across multiple sites.
  • Communicator: Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team Player: Skilled in prioritizing and collaborating under pressure in a centralized model.
