Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor will manage the commercial and contractual performance of building projects across the full project lifecycle—from pre-contract activities and tender file review, through subcontractor procurement, valuations, cash-flow monitoring, variation control, and contract correspondence, to final account preparation and documentation. You’ll work closely with project teams, clients, and procurement to ensure accurate cost tracking, timely payments, and compliance with contractual obligations.
Responsibilities
- Review tender documentation and establish commercial targets prior to contract award
- Procure subcontractors, attend pre-award meetings, and manage subcontract documentation
- Prepare monthly, interim, and final valuations, applications for payment, and cost reconciliations
- Monitor contract cash-flow, analyse position on contracts, and report regular updates
- Maintain variation schedules, measurement records, and controlling accounts
- Handle contractual correspondence, in-house reporting, and payment certification
- Finalise subcontractor accounts, prepare and agree final contract accounts with clients
- Record and manage details of contractual delays and potential claims
- Mentor and supervise junior surveyors, ensuring consistent quality and development
Job Requirements
- Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with a main contractor on building or civil engineering projects (Residential, RC frame, Retail/Commercial, Pharma, Data Centre, Hi-Tech)
- Chartered with SCSI or working towards chartership
- Proven track record in preparing monthly, interim, and final valuations, managing subcontractor accounts, and finalizing contract accounts
- Strong IT proficiency with construction-based systems for measurement, cost control, and reporting

- Strong analytical and numerical skills for measurement, cost reconciliation, and cash-flow forecasting
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities for stakeholder engagement and team leadership
- Highly organized self-starter with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to coach and mentor junior surveyors and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Proactive problem-solving mindset and adaptability in fast-paced construction environments
