Principal Engineer / Technical Lead - .NetLocation: Cork (Hybrid, 3 days/week)

Role Overview

An established enterprise software organization seeking a hands-on Principal Engineer / Technical Lead. You will lead the modernization of a complex financial platform, spending the majority of your time coding while guiding architectural improvements and mentoring the engineering team.

Core Responsibilities

• Modernization: Lead the transition of legacy systems to scalable, service-based architectures.
• Hands-on Delivery: Write high-quality code and drive best practices (testing, modular design, CI/CD).
• AI Integration: Utilize and champion modern IDE tooling—including Claude Code, Cursor, or Cline—within daily production workflows to accelerate development.
• Leadership: Mentor engineers through code reviews and pair programming; solve complex production issues.
• Strategy: Implement incremental refactoring and explore AI-assisted workflows to boost engineering productivity.

Technical Requirements

• Experience: 10+ years in commercial software engineering with a focus on modernizing production systems.
• Backend: Deep expertise in .NET / C#.
• Frontend: Strong TypeScript and Angular (or similar) skills.
• Cloud/DevOps: Experience with Azure, API design, and Infrastructure as Code.
• AI Tooling: Daily proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Cline, Claude Code).
• Domain: Experience in financial services or regulated environments is highly preferred.
