Purpose & Scope of the Role Join a well-established and growing groundwater team within a wider geo-environmental group of around 100 professionals operating across the UK and Ireland. This role supports the delivery of high-profile groundwater frameworks and resource development projects, including work with water utilities and public sector clients. As a Consultant or Senior Hydrogeologist, you will focus on technical delivery, project management and the continued growth of groundwater services, contributing to both regional and national projects. Your Impact in this Position You will play a key role in developing sustainable groundwater resources, advising on feasibility, investigation, testing and implementation of new water supplies. Your expertise will directly influence abstraction licensing, environmental protection and water resource management. Alongside technical delivery, you will strengthen client relationships, support project delivery and contribute to the ongoing success and expansion of the groundwater business. Core CapabilitiesTechnical Delivery

  • Deliver hydrogeological assessments from desk study through to reporting and implementation
  • Design and interpret pumping tests and groundwater investigations
  • Prepare abstraction licence applications and technical reports
  • Apply best practice and UK/NI regulatory guidance to groundwater projects

Project & Commercial Management

  • Manage project budgets, programmes and subcontractors
  • Support tendering, fee proposals and delivery of projects (£100k+)
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and quality across all work

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Act as a key client contact, building strong working relationships
  • Support growth through frameworks and new opportunities
  • Contribute to client meetings, proposals and project delivery strategies

Fieldwork & Site Leadership

  • Plan and supervise field investigations, drilling and testing
  • Oversee water quality sampling and environmental assessments
  • Carry out site visits to support technical delivery and problem-solving

Collaboration & Mentoring

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team across geo-environmental services
  • Support and mentor junior team members
  • Contribute to technical excellence and knowledge sharing

Skills, Qualifications & Experience A degree in earth sciences, geology or geochemistry, with postgraduate qualification in hydrogeology. Strong experience in groundwater investigations, pumping test analysis and reporting is essential. You will have excellent communication skills, technical judgement and the ability to manage projects and client relationships. Chartered status and experience with modelling tools (e.g. MODFLOW) are advantageous. Working Environment This role can be based in Wexford or Belfast, with flexibility to work from other offices for experienced candidates. Projects span Great Britain, Ireland and occasionally international locations, with short periods of travel required. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements are supported, typically combining office, site and remote working.
