Walker Cole International is partnering with a fast-growing biopharmaceutical company in hiring a downstream expert. This is a genuinely exciting time to join, with the business scaling its biologics capability and taking on an increasingly varied mix of client programmes across mAbs, vaccines and cell therapies.
As Downstream Expert, you'll take ownership of downstream process development across multiple biologic modalities, acting as technical supervisor on your projects and working directly with client teams to keep programmes moving from planning through to delivery.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading process development activities, designing and planning studies across downstream processes for mAbs, vaccines and viral vectors.
- Owning drug substance and drug product downstream development projects end to end.
- Leading scale-up strategy, taking processes from pilot scale through to GMP manufacturing.
- Working cross-functionally with R&D, QA and project management to hit timelines and keep programmes on track.
- Acting as technical supervisor, accountable for project delivery, and presenting progress, issues and results directly to client companies.
What we're looking for:
- Strong industry background in downstream biologic process development, with in-depth DSP knowledge and expert-level chromatography skills, including genuine AKTA and TFF troubleshooting experience.
- Hands-on background in process design, process development, process characterisation or MS&T.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills, comfortable producing protocols and reports and discussing results with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, able to work well in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience across multiple modalities is a strong advantage, particularly where it includes process characterisation work.
