Company Description

Waterford & Suir Valley Railway Co. CLG (WSVR) is a community led heritage organisation, and a registered charity, based at Kilmeaden and dedicated to providing a unique railway experience.

Annually, WSVR welcomes more than 28,000 passengers of all ages and many more visitors from Waterford Greenway. We have operated successfully for 20 years and have become integral to the tourist offering in the region. We are committed to ensuring the railway continues as a vibrant and accessible resource for future generations.

Our people are our greatest asset. We are a lean dedicated team supported by a powerhouse of over 30 passionate volunteers and a voluntary Board of Directors. This unique ecosystem of a small, dedicated team, combined with local enthusiasm and support, is what makes WSVR more than a heritage company - it’s a community hub.

General Manager Role

We are recruiting a General Manager who respects the legacy of WSVR and will provide leadership to the business to ensure our heritage operation remains financially stable and socially relevant for the next generation of visitors.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include

·        People & Culture – leading a small employee team and recruiting, managing and supporting the

volunteers

·        Operational Excellence – overseeing daily site activity and compliance

·        Strategic Leadership – driving business development and long-term growth

·        Financial Stewardship – manage revenue and expenditure budgets

·        Brand Advocacy – leading sales and marketing and community stakeholder engagement

The successful candidate will be flexible in their approach to their duties and have proven professional and leadership skills including commercial acumen, operational management, health and safety compliance, financial literacy and ability to engage with stakeholders. An interest in industrial heritage would be welcomed.

Applications shall be submitted to info@wsvrailway.ie by 1.00 pm on Thursday, March 5th, 2026.
