Purpose of the role : The Senior Manager, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of policies, programs, and initiatives that strengthen the organisation’s environmental, health, and safety performance. This role ensures full compliance with current and emerging regulatory requirements, while proactively safeguarding and enhancing the organisation’s reputation. You will provide strategic leadership across multiple sites and locations, driving consistency and excellence in environmental management, occupational health, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance. You will be accountable for establishing and embedding robust EHS frameworks that promote a culture of continuous improvement. In addition, you will design and execute a strategic roadmap to standardise and advance Global Occupational Health programs within the Infectious Disease Business (ID) Unit at RMDx, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and industry best practices. You will have responsibility for continuous improvement in EHS performance through programs, process, and culture. Main Responsibilities :
- Responsible for EHS functional leadership at global level across 6 manufacturing sites, 2 main office complexes, and 2 R&D sites, as well as the ID Commercial organisation in the US and Canada.
- Build Global EHS and Occupational Health strategy to support the ID EHS vision and mission.
- Reinforce the importance of EHS in the organization. Actively build programs to support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed its EHS objectives.
- Manage safety performance measures. Partner with multiple stakeholder groups ranging from BU senior leaders, functional groups, site leadership, corporate EHS and external regulatory authorities.
- Drive programs to assure compliance with all Corporate, Divisional, local, State and federal regulations pertaining to Environmental, Health and Safety.
- Build & integrate proactive data collection systems to lead and coordinate Occupational Health, Environmental and Safety efforts for continual improvement.
- Drive continuous improvement by establishing programs that minimize loss in all aspects of EHS & Occupational Health including employee safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection, environmental risk, etc.
- Drive comprehensive incident investigation programs, root cause analysis other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead team to develop and implement & execute large scale regional projects to reduce personnel and regulatory risk as well as improve employee well-being across ID.
- Lead team to identify and oversee capital expenditures for improvements, risk mitigation projects for manufacturing sites.
- Commercial responsibility for employees in North America & Canada, to proactively lead change to maintain regulatory compliance and reduce the impact of incidents and losses in several critical pillars in the ID Commercial Sales force.
- Coordinate business continuity plans for ID manufacturing and office sites, including the Business Unit Business Continuity Management Plan.
- Stay current with environmental regulations so the organization’s EHS policies remain current and relevant.
Education level :
- Bachelor’s Degree, Environmental Science/Occupational Health and Safety Management or related field.
Experience :
- 10+ years EHS Experience within medical device industry or similar industry experience.
- Ability to translate strategies into practical goals.
- Demonstrated ability to lead international cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
- Compliance to Quality Management Systems (e.g. ISO9001/ ISO13485/ ISO14971/ GMP).
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills with an ability to achieve results through influencing others and maintaining strong links with other functions.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Experience with change management and continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
- Self-starter, possesses flexibility and ability to work under pressure in a fast-changing environment and ambiguous situations with shifting priorities.
- Project management experience an advantage.
- Lean management experience an advantage.
- Proficient knowledge and experience of Excel, Word and PowerPoint systems in order to manage a variety of data sources and then present those at all levels within the organisation.
