Design Engineer

We are working with a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation to recruit an experienced Design Engineer to join a growing team. This opportunity is ideally suited to an engineer with 3–5 years' experience and a strong background in SolidWorks (CAD/CAM), project management, and mechanical design within a manufacturing or tooling environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop in-die tooling and specialised installation tooling for both manual and automated manufacturing systems.
• Manage multiple engineering projects from concept through to delivery, including data evaluation, costing, quoting, tool design, die reviews, manufacture, assembly, testing and final dispatch.
• Support installation and commissioning activities where required.
• Create, update and maintain technical drawings, engineering documentation and design records.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Operations, Engineering and customers to ensure successful project delivery.
• Support customer engagements, including virtual project evaluations and technical discussions.
• Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), routers and engineering data within internal systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency and manufacturing processes.

Key Requirements

• 3–5 years' relevant experience in manufacturing, tooling or mechanical design.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (CAD/CAM).
• Proven project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Engineering qualification (discipline flexible).
• Strong mechanical engineering aptitude; electrical knowledge would be advantageous.
• Experience within CNC machining and/or press shop environments is beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills with both internal stakeholders and customers.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Willingness to travel within Europe at short notice.
