Senior Buyer

Working with my Cork-based client, I’m seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to lead and develop the company’s procurement function. Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies to support operational needs.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure consistent availability of required materials and goods.
• Collaborate with operations and production teams to align supply plans with project and budget timelines.
• Analyse inventory data to manage reorder levels and optimize stock control.
• Oversee the resolution of any procurement or inventory discrepancies.
• Support internal teams in managing purchase orders and closing procurement activities.
• Maintain efficient warehouse organization and space utilization.
• Build and sustain strong supplier relationships while ensuring value and reliability.
• Participate in cost control and process improvement initiatives.
• Track supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the supply chain function.
• Provide regular reporting and updates on material usage and procurement performance.

Person Specification

• Qualification in Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Strong organizational, analytical, and administrative skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and familiar with ERP/procurement systems.
• Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills.
• Self-motivated with a collaborative approach to continuous improvement.
