The ideal candidate will possess financial expertise, having held similar positions within a fast-paced and expanding environment, preferably in a public sector organisation. This role is both dynamic and demanding, requiring the candidate to quickly understand the intricacies of Screen Ireland's business and operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the processing and administration of the agency’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, processing of payroll, timely payments, compliance with internal financial controls, and complying with regulatory and best practice standards. The role holder will be responsible for daily financial activities, supporting the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and the administration of key IT systems.

Collaborating closely with the Director of Business and Finance and the Head of Finance, Governance, Risk and Compliance, the successful candidate will support and play a key role in implementing transformative initiatives within the Finance function in alignment with the Executive Leadership's development plans for the finance function.

Key Requirements Essential

  • Possess a minimum Level 8 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major award or its equivalent.
  • Part-qualified accountant.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in a comparable position meeting required responsibilities, showcasing demonstrable experience working in a busy finance office, use of accounting software and delivering projects.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in SAGE and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Proven decision-making capability, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated planning and organisational abilities, prioritising tasks, and managing varied workloads.
  • Proficiency in cultivating relationships with diverse stakeholders, alongside excellent communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work independently and within project teams, showing initiative.
  • Ability to work to challenging deadlines, take ownership, and contribute positively towards team and organisational objectives.
  • Proactive approach to learning and contributing to a dynamic, inclusive, and innovative working environment, collaborating effectively across departments.

Role Details and Terms

  • This position is at the Higher Executive Officer level and is remunerated at €59,435 per annum. This role will be filled in line with Public Pay Policy at the first point of this Salary Scale unless the successful candidate is appointed from an existing public sector role. Application of 1 February 2026 pay adjustments.
  • This is a specific purpose, full-time contract.
  • The successful candidate will be required to sign the Screen Ireland Code of Conduct.
  • The role will have a 6-month probation period.
  • The person will report directly to the Head of Finance, Governance, Risk and Compliance.
  • The post will be based in Galway.
  • Annual leave (excluding bank holidays) of 29 days.
  • Start Date as soon as possible.
