Location: Tralee, Co. Kerry

The Company

Our client, a well-established accountancy practice is seeking an organised Bookkeeper to join its Tralee office. The role involves managing a portfolio of clients, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely VAT submissions using cloud-based systems. Working in a busy environment, this hands-on position supports the accounting team with day-to-day financial reporting and requires strong attention to detail, client communication, and the ability to manage multiple accounts independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
• Process purchase and sales invoices, receipts, and bank transactions
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and file VAT returns in line with Irish Revenue requirements
• Work with cloud accounting systems, particularly Xero
• Maintain organised digital records and ensure compliance with regulations
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts and year-end files
• Liaise with clients to resolve queries and gather financial information

Requirements

• Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice
• Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns in Ireland
• Proficiency in cloud accounting software (Xero preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Strong communication and client service skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients

Desirable

• Xero Advisor certification
• Experience with other systems (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, Dext)
• Accounting technician or bookkeeping qualification
